Archery is the oldest sport recorded by man according to the Guinness book of records. The Sumerians and Egyptians were the first famous archers, because the bow played an important role as a weapon of war. The first rudimentary bows were made of bent trees and joined by a rope, the Egyptians were the first to try different types of wood or with animal horns joined together in strips producing a stronger and more durable bow.


The appearance of the bow and arrow is considered by experts as one of the most significant discoveries in the evolution of man. With this, man acquired the ability to be one of the most perfect hunters in nature, by allowing him to obtain the prey of him without needing to get too close to them. The bow and arrow became an essential part for hunting and war, but now in present day archery has become a popular sport around the world. After several attempts, archery is included in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, from that date to now archery has had an impressive technical development and is considered one of the most colorful and elegant sports, and in the that a high degree of technical mastery is handled. In addition, archery has many types of championships to participate in, highlighting those of Sala (18 meters), and outdoor shooting at 30, 50, 70 and 90 meters. Currently there are several championships, both regional, national and international.
